OBJECTIVES:
Participants will:

  • Differentiate between effective and ineffective techniques of Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) in the treatment of lymphedema and related conditions
  • Understand how indocyanine green (ICG) imaging has changed our knowledge of the drainage direction in breast cancer related lymphedema (BCRL)
  • Defend the role of MLD in the treatment of lymphedema when carried out with intent and purpose
  • Identify strategies for managing post-operative and acute edema in the hospitalized patient
  • Apply components of Complete Decongestive Therapy (CDT) to non-traditional patient populations, including acute care and orthopedic edema
  • Select and justify appropriate compression techniques to support patient recovery, comfort, and functional outcomes
  • Analyze medical and risk factors to ensure safe compression application in medically complex acute care patients
  • Demonstrate how innovative edema management practices can reduce readmission rates and hospital length of stay
  • Name three major types of static compression garments
  • Name four different pneumatic compression modes
  • Name two advantages of using textured compression garments
  • Review basic principles of function, fitness and exercise for the general population
  • Provide analysis on exercise and the nuances and adaptations required for individuals with lymphatic dysfunction
  • Provide general principles to help practitioners develop individualized exercise  programs for their patients.

If this is not possible, we will refund the entire amount of payment if a written request is sent more than 14 days prior to the seminar, or if there is a valid medical reason for not being able to participate. If a workshop is cancelled by Lymphedema Seminars for any reason, we will provide a full credit for a future workshop or seminar valid for one year. Lymphedema Seminars will make every effort to contact attendees in a timely fashion if a course has to be canceled. If there are any complaints, please send them to us in writing and we will respond within 7 days.
